Reflecting on EDU 776

Final thoughts Technology in Education  I have always believed that technology in education is so important. Many districts, including my own, actually rely on it and expect that teachers and students are using it for a variety of things. This course just enhanced my belief by showing me (and reminding me) of all the beneficial things that technology can do for us and our students in the classroom. This includes things like incorporating active learning techniques into my lessons, using accessibility tools with my students, and like most recently, using AI to enhance my classroom.  I think this course made me think about how to be more purposeful with technology. A lot of times as teachers we use technology because it is something our district or school requires us to use. However, in this course, I was exposed to so many cool tools that will be beneficial to me and/or my students. Those are the types of technology resources we should be using in our classrooms.  I do thi...

AI In Education

AI in Education  AI in education is becoming a bigger thing. AI is Artificial Intelligence. AI can complete human-like tasks, more so that are technology related. It is everywhere nowadays. Teachers are using AI to help support their lessons and students. However, there are so many different websites and tools that educators can use with AI that it can be overwhelming. I myself haven't used AI too much. I understand many things have AI built into it now. Such as Instagram with their “Meta AI”, but that’s about it. I would love to learn about more tools I can use in the classroom to support my planning and students' learning. With that being said, I took some time to explore three different AI tools for educators and I am going to share with you my thoughts! MagicSchool AI  Last school year, one of my colleagues presented on MagicSchool AI . She highlighted so many cool and fascinating things that it could do. I couldn’t wait to use it! I book marked the website right th...

Digital Tattoos Part 2

Digital Tattoos Doing a data mine on myself is kind of nerve wracking for me. I was a little nervous to see what information was out there about myself. I am someone who keeps all their social media accounts private. At one point in my life, I didn’t have my last name on any of my social media accounts. When I first started teaching, I didn’t want it to be easy for my students or their families to find me on the internet. So now, I am very interested to see what is out there about me! When doing the data mine, I put my findings into a chart to show what was found on that site. Green represents that site had it and red means the site did not.  Source: Created by Blog Owner Google My first search was in a Safari browser using Google. I searched my name “Ashley Pesch”. Immediately pictures of myself popped up and I was nervous. However, I realized most of the pictures that popped were from my wedding website (which is public). Google was able to show my teacher Twitter/X account and t...

PLN - What Do I Bring to the Table?

What is a PLN?  A PLN is a professional learning network. This network is other people you can collaborate with, share resources with, and learn with to strengthen your role in your profession. Your professional learning network can be a variety of people. They don’t always have to be who you work with. They can be those you follow on X or teachers you share resources with on a Facebook group. If you are interested in reading more about my experience with PLN’s check out a previous blog post .  Everyone brings something different to their PLNs. I decided to take some different personality tests to see what I contribute and also what I can strengthen to make myself a better teammate.  Personality Test #1 Source: FiveFactorTest The first personality test I took was the “ Five Factor Test ”. This test was broken into five different categories: extraversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism. My highest area with a score of 90% ...
